Renovating a room—or several rooms—in your home can feel exciting and overwhelming all at once. With endless options for finishes, colors, fixtures, and furnishings, knowing where to begin is often the hardest part. The good news? There’s no single “right” starting point—just the one that works best for you.

Neighborhood Philanthropy: Oxford Civic Chorus
Oxford is host to some wonderful non-profit organizations that provide for our community in so many ways. We want to provide a glimpse of these organizations each month. The Oxford Civic Chorus holds a special place in our heart, as Brooke was its Artistic Director for 5 years and sang in the choir while in college. It was founded in 1998 by University of Mississippi music department professor, Dr. Martha Hitch, and senior music student, Gabriel Statom. This excellent community chorus has been inspiring singers, enriching the community and expanding musical horizons ever since!
Neighborhood Business Highlight: Totsford
Neighborhood Realty is excited to welcome Totsford to Oxford!
Owner, Sara Breithaupt, has always believed in the power of play. Her vision for Totsford began while completing her play therapy degree. She recognized that Oxford and the surrounding communities lacked a place where children could engage in meaningful play year-round. Inspired to fill that gap, she set out to create Totsford — a kid-sized version of Oxford — a space where kids could grow, explore, and thrive.

Neighborhood Philanthropy: Lafayette County Literacy Council
The Lafayette County Literacy Council’s mission is to strengthen Oxford and Lafayette County through literacy and reading. They believe that the ability to read is not just a basic skill — it’s a foundation for a better life. Every program they offer, every event they host, and every volunteer they train is part of a larger story: a story about opening doors, building confidence, and giving people the tools they need to thrive.
April is Fair Housing Month
Fair Housing month brings awareness to the increased efforts to end housing discrimination and raises awareness of fair housing rights.
Fair Housing month is celebrated in April of each year in honor of the Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, or the Fair Housing Act. The Fair Housing Act (FHA) was passed in the wake of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. King's roots in fair housing can be traced back to the Chicago Freedom Movement.

New Oxford
I don’t think there’s a "returning to normal" in Oxford. I think there’s a before the storm and an after the storm. There’s a new normal now — a new way to look at Oxford and our community.
Neighborhood Business Highlight: Shaw Ace Hardware
Winter Storm Fern hit Oxford and Lafayette county with a vengeance. Our local Shaw Ace Hardware is continuing to step up and help out our residents. Anyone who goes to Shaw’s knows you’ll be greeted with a “how can I help you” and a smile. This month’s business highlight is Shaw Ace Hardware.
Neighborhood Philanthropy: Stronger Together Oxford
Once Winter Storm Fern passed through Oxford, Stronger Together Oxford began their work putting together information for residents, organizing volunteer opportunities, etc. Many people feel helpless during these kinds of events and it really is important to have organizations take the lead and show people “how” they can help.
Home Care Tips for Cold Weather
Oxford weather can be unpredictable and can change quickly this time of year. One day it can be warm and sunny, and the next day you may need your heaviest winter coat.
When winter temperatures drop below freezing, your home needs a little extra care. A hard freeze can lead to burst pipes and high energy bills, but with a few proactive steps, you can protect your home, avoid costly repairs and high utility bills, and stay warm and comfortable all season long.

Home Security Spotlight: Protecting Your Home from Holiday Break-Ins
The Christmas and New Years break is a great time for families with school age children to get away, for college students to travel or visit home, and for locals to enjoy a quiet, slow paced Oxford. Unfortunately, it is also prime time for home break-ins. Thieves know that many people in our small town are taking advantage of the time off school and that there will be a lot of empty homes in the Oxford area.
