Neighborhood Philanthropy: United Way

Oxford is host to some wonderful non-profit organizations that provide for our community in so many ways. We want to provide a glimpse of these organizations each month. The United Way of Oxford-Lafayette County has been serving its residents since 1970. The United Way of Oxford-Lafayette County was incorporated in 1970 as the United Fund and its first campaign was chaired by Dr. Robert Khayat in 1971. The organization joined the United Way network in 1975. For the past 56 years the local United Way has sought to serve as a unifying force by bringing individuals, organizations, businesses, and public entities together to make a meaningful difference throughout Oxford and Lafayette County.

The organization’s signature annual fundraiser is the United Way Flashback Bash. This years United Way Flashback Bash is set for Saturday, August 1, 2026, in Oxford, bringing the community together for an evening of fun, nostalgia, and purpose. Hosted by the United Way of Oxford-Lafayette County, the event at the Oxford Conference Center runs from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and features live music, food, and themed entertainment. Designed as both a celebration and a fundraiser, the Flashback Bash supports local programs focused on education, health, financial stability, and community resilience—making it a meaningful night out that gives back to the LOU community.

United Way asks that you come as you are, as you were, or however you want to be. Arrive ready to have fun as we once again flash back for our community’s future with Almost Famous, Taylor Grocery Special Events Catering, and Oxford PhotoBomb. United Way’s mission is seeking to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world to advance the common good. Support their mission and provide a helping hand to local programs today by either purchasing a ticket here to this retro night, reserving a table, or simply donating by clicking here. You don’t want to miss it!
