If there’s one thing Oxford is known for, it's the wide-range of small businesses that dish out some of the best plates you’ve ever had, and Good Day Cafe is no exception to that trend. Co-Owners Ross, Joseph, and Executive Chef Patrick have had their doors open since September of 2022 and have been booming in business ever since.

While a Senior at Ole Miss, Erin Young had the opportunity of a lifetime, to open her own business, Olive Juice Gifts on the Oxford Square. After a successful 10 years in the gift shop business, her marriage to Council Young and their first baby girl, they decided in 2021 to open OJK, A Children’s Boutique. They are happily married and now co-owners of OJK. As Erin shared, “This was not a planned venture, but it has been the best and most exciting challenge that we didn't know we needed.”

We all love a clean vehicle. Many of us enjoy driving our cars through the carwash, but what if the carwash came to you? LaTasha Gillard wanted to bring a more personal touch to car washing and detailing, so she opened BossLady Detailing in September of 2022.

The 4th annual Holly Jolly Holidays is making its return to Oxford this winter, capturing the spirit of the season with festive experiences that include visits with Santa, ice skating and a newly launched Peppermint Trail. To kick off the festivities, Visit Oxford is bringing the 4,000-square-foot ice-skating rink back for an extended time from November 18, 2023, through January 7, 2024.

Lindsey Mitchell has spent most of her life in the retail business. Shop Mary Bee, an all online clothes and accessories boutique, was inspired by her grandmother, Mary Lee. Lindsey shared, “My grandmother Mary Lee Beck is the inspiration for the name and for the ideas behind it. As girls, my sister and I spent hours at her house, watching her sew beautiful skirts, dresses, pillows, drapes, etc. She taught my sister and I the importance of presenting yourself in all ways in the best way possible. Professionally, physically, spiritually...show up looking "smart" and with the proper undergarments on!” So, now Lindsey inspires other women through her Shop Mary Bee online site!

The South’s oldest store and the nation’s 16th oldest, Neilson’s Department Store has been serving Oxford residents since 1839. From specialty apparel for women, men and kids to wedding registries to gifts to cosmetics, Neilson’s is THE place to shop on the Oxford Square.

Since 2010, Sarah Kathyrn Dossett has been helping locals, Ole Miss students and visitors use their creative sides to both create art and experience art at her studio, Studio Whimzy. Sarah Kathyrn is a Mississippi native and graduated with a B.F.A. in Printmaking from the University of Mississippi. She recently shared, “I wanted to stay in Mississippi and teach art and that is truly why the studio exists.” And we are so glad she did!

Who knew taking on a new business during Covid would actually bring people together? Elizabeth Speed purchased Oxsicles from Lauren Klimentz right before the pandemic began in 2020. Elizabeth shared, “It was a rocky first popsicle season but I made it work by doing the Oxford Community Farmer's Market, continuing to build my retail locations and hosting neighborhood pop-ups for small outdoor events. This really helped me to get to know more people in town and bring Oxsicles to them in their neighborhoods.” Our neighborhood hosted a “pop-up” during Covid, and it was such a treat to see our neighbors and let our kids (and adults) connect over delicious pops!

‘Feeling stressed’ has become the new normal for most of us. Our jobs, our families, our political views, HOUSE HUNTING….the list goes on and on. But how grateful we are to have Live Well Therapeutic as one of our calm, relaxing ‘get aways’ each month! Shireen Mullink, owner and Massage Therapist, has been calming and massaging her clients back to a stress-free life since 2014.

Kate Newman has been in the retail business since she was 17 years old. She always knew she wanted to open her own clothing store, and after a decade of living in Oxford, she was able to make that dream a reality. Style Assembly opened in August 2021. But that wasn’t enough. Kate wanted to give back, so she was able to land a teaching job at Ole Miss in the IMC (Integrated Marketing Communications) department where she could share her talents and love of retail with other aspiring students. Kate has always believed in paying it forward and we couldn’t agree more. Check out why we think Style Assembly is so fantastic!

Chip Brown, an Ole Miss Alum, moved his family to Oxford in 2019 and opened DeltaDog the same year. With a background in dog training in the Mississippi Delta during his college years, he opened his first luxury pet resort in Memphis in 2007. He wanted to bring the same luxury accommodations and fun activities to all the dogs of Oxford and Ole Miss, while also building trust and relationship with both customers and their dogs. Chip shared, “DeltaDog customers will enjoy peace of mind knowing their dogs are staying in first-class accommodations and receiving the highest level of individual care and attention, just like they do at home!”

Opened in 1990, Ink Spot has been creating and printing custom t-shirts and serves as the parent company for Cat Daddy’s, the retail store opened in 2000. Both work together seamlessly and bring great designs to our Oxford/Lafayette County area!
