Neighborhood Business Highlight: Shaw Ace Hardware

Winter Storm Fern hit Oxford and Lafayette county with a vengeance. Our local Shaw Ace Hardware is continuing to step up and help out our residents. Anyone who goes to Shaw’s knows you’ll be greeted with a “how can I help you” and a smile. This month’s business highlight is Shaw Ace Hardware.

Parham Shaw and Payne Sneed opened Shaw and Sneed’s Hardware on the Oxford Square in 1951. Then, in 1963, they became part of the Ace Hardware company. In 1987, the store moved into its much larger, current location just off the Square on University Avenue.

Today, Shaw Ace Hardware is run by Parham’s grandson, David Shaw and his wife, Susan. David began working for the store in high school, became part owner in 1998, and now has more than 35 years of experience serving the hardware needs of Oxford and Lafayette county residents. The Shaw Hardware team continues to be Oxford’s oldest and most trusted hardware store.
