Neighborhood Philanthropy: Rotary Club of Oxford & The Christmas Store
Oxford is host to some wonderful non-profit organizations that provide for our community in so many ways. We want to provide a glimpse of these organizations each month. Since 1975, the Christmas Store has been giving toys, books and fruit to Oxford and Lafayette county children. The store began collaborating with the Rotary Club of Oxford-Ole Miss in 2008 and is now working with the Rotary Club of Oxford.

Holly Jolly Holidays 2023
The 4th annual Holly Jolly Holidays is making its return to Oxford this winter, capturing the spirit of the season with festive experiences that include visits with Santa, ice skating and a newly launched Peppermint Trail. To kick off the festivities, Visit Oxford is bringing the 4,000-square-foot ice-skating rink back for an extended time from November 18, 2023, through January 7, 2024.
Neighborhood Business Highlight: Circle & Square Brewing Company
Mississippi state law changed July 1, 2021, by providing a provision for a microbrewery to exist in the state. A group of four friends jumped to make the first Oxford microbrewery, Circle & Square Brewing Company, happen in Oxford. Sumner Abraham shared, “Once this law passed, we assembled our team and got to work. This has been an 18 month project of ensuring compliance with all applicable laws while setting up a structure that can be sustainable for decades to come. We felt Oxford, as a community, could benefit from having its own microbrewery and we are proud to be Oxford's first microbrewery. Our hope is that anytime anyone comes to town, we can deliver a high quality product that reflects how special of a community we get to call home.”

Oxford is host to some wonderful non-profit organizations that provide for our community in so many ways. We want to provide a glimpse of these organizations each month. More Than a Meal was started 12 years ago by a few like-minded women who desired to have a hot meal available each week for those who needed it in Oxford. They decided to make it “more than just a meal” and offer tutoring services and necessary toiletries at each meal. The hope was to begin a fellowship of community as they shared a meal together each week.

Founded in 1895, Palmer Home for Children is a safe home for children in need ages newborn through 24 years old regardless of race, gender or background. Originally founded as a small orphanage, Palmer Home is now a multifaceted ministry that serves hundreds of children and their families each year across four service lines: Campus Care, Family Care, Foster Care and Transitional Care.
