Interior Decorator Spotlight: Hazel Bleu Designs

This month’s Interior Decorator Spotlight is Hazel Bleu Designs. This new Oxford business, recently opened by Sunny Baddour, offers full service residential and interior design. Sunny shared, “A full residential package consists of new construction or remodel where I am involved in everything from the finish package selections to flooring and trim. I can add on furniture and interior services to that package. I can also offer simpler design packages for smaller projects like a powder room bath, where I simply charge by the hour. I am also happy to assist with what I call a “refresh”. This can consist of painting existing cabinets and getting new countertops and hardware or maybe adding a fun wallpaper and new light fixtures to a powder bath. I definitely want to be available to work with projects of all budgets and sizes.”

We asked Sunny of Hazel Bleu Designs 3 questions:

Neighborhood Realty: “How do you help someone determine their style?“

Sunny: “One of the first and quickest ways to determine someone’s style is by asking them to share saved photos, screenshots, or a Pinterest board. Instagram has become a big influence for interior design inspiration. I often ask clients what interior designer or decor accounts they may follow. Often I find it’s harder for homeowners to verbalize their taste. And what one person considers “modern” may not be the same to the next.”

Neighborhood Realty: “What is your process when meeting with a new client?”

Sunny: “I like to have an initial introduction to review their needs, expectations and gauge the scope of the project. This is also a great way to determine if I am the best fit for their project. Sometimes personalities and styles clash. While I don’t like to put myself in a box or specific category of “style,” I do believe the homeowner and myself need to have a connection.”

Neighborhood Realty: “What are the most popular styles right now?”

Sunny: “I am very pleased to say I am seeing warmer tones, color, pattern, texture and a more modern approach come to life. I am also seeing a lot of vintage inspired design, which I personally love. It’s fun to find creative ways to make the old look new and fresh and put a modern spin on a retro design.”
