Neighborhood Business Highlight: Tallahatchie Gourmet

Daily Blue Plate Specials & Jazz Brunch on Sundays, check. Grab & go casseroles and catering for The Grove, check.  New Orleans King Cake deliveries in February, check. Tallahatchie Gourmet has it all and it’s located right on the Oxford Square under Neilson’s Department Store.

Inspired by the unique and delicious taste of her native New Orleans, Angele Mueller set out to recreate that distinct and wonderful flavor in New Albany, MS in 2002. She opened her Oxford location 5 years ago after being approached by the owners of Neilson’s department store. Angele had been busy catering for the Oxford area for many years and the Neilson’s owners thought her New Albany restaurant would do well in the Oxford area – and they were RIGHT! She and Nancy Nations are the perfect pair to create delicious dishes that Oxford residents keep coming back to week after week.

They are open 7 days a week for lunch and 3 nights a week (Thursday, Friday and Saturday), with many of those nights offering LIVE music. Their Sunday Jazz brunch is a big hit with the locals and their “to-go” casseroles are delicious!

We ask our Neighborhood businesses how the Oxford and Lafayette county real estate market affects them. Angele knows that the more people move to Oxford, the more people there will be to eat at Tallahatchie Gourmet! We are grateful Tallahatchie Gourmet decided to open its doors almost 5 years ago during the 2017 Double Decker Festival. Be sure to go by and see them at 1221 Van Buren Avenue (right under Neilson’s Department Store).
