5 Drywall Repair Hacks

Drywall repairs are something that every homeowner has to tackle at some point. This realtor.com video gives five drywall repair hacks that are easy and less messy!

1. Choose the right stuff. Based on the size of repair needed, decide if you need spackle or joint compound. Use spackle for the small repairs and joint compound for the larger ones.

2. Prep the spot. Cut away any fuzzy edges, sand lightly and loosen any crumbly pieces of drywall

3. Use the correct blade. A 2 inch is fine for scooping out from the container, but a wide blade is best for applying. The blade edges should be wider than the area you are working on.

4. Wax on, wax off. (Sanding with less mess.) Use one hand to hold vacuum wand and the other should sand the area, trying to catch dust as you sand.

5. Prime time. Every fresh spackle spot should get a coat of primer before the top coat of color goes on.
