Neighborhood Business Highlight: The Sipp
Wine Spectator, the world’s leading authority on wine, recently unveiled the winners of the 2023 Restaurant Awards, which honor the world’s best restaurants for wine. The Sipp in Oxford received its 4th consecutive award. Claire Kiamie, co-owner with her husband AJ, shared, “At The Sipp and YUGO, we strive to offer our guests an exceptional dining experience and our extensive wine selections are an integral part of that experience. We are proud to be acknowledged for our dedication to providing outstanding wines that perfectly complement our innovative culinary creations.”
The Sipp on South Lamar opened in 2019 by Claire & AJ Kiamie after years in the wine and liquor and event planning industries. A wine & tapas bar was a niche they thought Oxford would enjoy. Chef Cameron Bryant has been the executive chef on their team since day one, and Jon Geddie is the current general manager, who just recently joined their team.

The Sipp offers tapas style, cooked to order food. Preparing a menu which offers each item as a small or large plate, the kitchen at The Sipp is innovative with seasonal flavors year round. You can also expect one of Oxford’s most extensive wine and spirits menus, including over 60 wines and 100 whiskeys by the taste or glass.
The Sipp has a great location on the Oxford Square! Located just off South Lamar, you can enjoy their patio space, the main dining area or you can book their tasting room. Claire shared,“Oxford has grown exponentially over AJ’s 43 years here and along with that is the need for more businesses. It’s amazing to see such a small town continue to grow and attract so many wonderful students and professionals and we are extremely grateful for our locals who continue to support us year round!”
