The search for your new home was a tough one: not enough inventory, higher interest rates, multiple offers, etc. Now you’ve moved in and you’re noticing little quirks about your home that could potentially make you start hating your home. Let’s look at this realtor.com article that shows 6 annoying things in a home and how to fix them.

1. Lack of closets.
The Fix: Ideally, find a wall that you can build out a closet. Too expensive, find an open nook to build a wall and add a door. Customize it with items from the container store or Ikea.

2. Not enough electrical outlets.
The Fix: Instead of extension cords, hire an electrician to add some outlets. Adding outlets is not a huge expense, but be sure to add into your estimate wall patching and paint.

3. Pedestal sink.
The Fix: Since the pedestal sink has no counter space, you can easily replace it with a different vanity that has better storage. Inside Discount on Hwy 6 West has some great options!

4. Doorknobs that don’t lock.
The Fix: It’s pretty easy to replace doorknobs, so long as the holes are the same size. You could also add a slide lock or an eye hook.

5. White everything.
The Fix: White paint can be easy or hard to maintain, depending on the finish. Matte is easiest to touch-up. If it has a sheen, you’ll have to repaint the entire wall. Mr. Clean Magic Eraser also works really well!

6. No toilet paper holder or it is hard to reach.
The Fix: Easy solution. A free-standing toilet paper holder is a great option!
