Neighborhood Business Highlight: Kingswood Restaurant

The Oliver Hotel, formerly The Chancellor’s House, decided to rebrand and rejuvenate with a beautiful renovation this past summer. Over the past decade, the management company, Oliver Hospitality, has grown rapidly across the country.  From the Sierras in South Lake, Tahoe to Atlanta, Georgia to Knoxville, Tennessee and now Oxford, the brand represents a culture of great service and a wide range of food and beverage options. The Oliver Hotel is host to Oxford’s newest restaurant, Kingswood.

Oliver Hospitality purchased Chancellor's House in April 2022. In December 2022, they began to slowly undergo renovations, and in May 2023, they closed their doors for full renovations and a rebranding of the property. On August 1, 2023, they reopened as The Oliver Hotel with Kingswood as its main dining experience.

Kingswood Restaurant offers a tasteful yet casual atmosphere for lunch, dinner, weekend brunch or a weekday happy hour. Renowned chef, Joel Miller, who is no stranger to the Oxford community (former chef & Owner at Ravine Restaurant), highlights seasonal ingredients sourced from local purveyors. Sondra Richardson, VP of Operations, recently shared, “Our duck breast is a fan-favorite in town! Guests also love our pappardelle small plate, which consists of housemade pappardelle pasta and Chef Joel's spin on his typical bolognese, which uses Impossible Meat giving vegetarians a hearty option. As for cocktails, the Little Debbie and the Sundance Kid has been hugely popular since we reopened. It tends to be the perfect dessert drink to end a meal.”

The Oliver Hotel has a prime location on the Oxford Square. Oliver Hospitality shared, “We love the community that surrounds the hotel here in Oxford. The local people and businesses have been very supportive and welcoming of The Oliver Hotel and Oliver Hospitality since we took ownership of the property.”

We ask our Neighborhood businesses how the Oxford and Lafayette county real estate market affects them. Oliver Hospitality shared, “It's a huge impact on our growing community! Oxford is thriving, and we are excited to see it continue to grow.”

We are so grateful to Chef Joel Miller and his staff at Kingswood Restaurant for fostering community and showcasing Mississippi in all of his dishes.  Kingswood is located inside The Oliver Hotel at 425 South Lamar Blvd and they are open for lunch Friday 11 am – 2:00 pm, brunch Saturday-Sunday 9:00 am – 2:00 pm and dinner 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm nightly.
