Neighborhood Business Highlight: JANE

Jane Cross, Owner of JANE

Jane Cross, owner of JANE on the Oxford Square, is the epitome of a successful business woman with fantastic style, and she is also a wonderful human being. JANE was opened 4 years ago with the goal of bringing fashion inspiration and everyday essentials to build the wardrobe of women of all ages. We believe she’s definitely accomplished that goal and helped to provide mentorship to her staff on a regular basis.

Jane graduated from The University of Mississippi’s Pharmacy school in 2009 and practiced pharmacy for 9 years. Jane shared, “While I loved aspects of this career and enjoyed helping people, it was hard to juggle a pharmacy career with motherhood. God opened doors for me to purchase Nella in 2018, and I am extremely grateful for that opportunity. I just completed my fourth year, and I absolutely love what I do!”

JANE showcases women’s fashion well through clothing, shoes and accessories. You can shop in their store on the Square or online here. Jane mentioned she loves her location because “It’s wonderful to see familiar and friendly faces daily, be able to walk to a yummy lunch any day of the week and be central to my kids schools so they can walk here in the afternoons.” But Jane mentioned her favorite part of her job is “The women I get to work with daily and the flexibility of juggling work you enjoy with motherhood.”

Georgie Harrison is one of those special women that Jane gets to work with daily. Georgie shared, “When Jane approached me about becoming manager, I was so excited to learn from her. I look up to her and her drive and motivation to always grow and adapt to the needs of the town and the people that make up our town. Jane is creative in the curation of the pieces and brands that make up the store. She is aware of the different demographics that make up Oxford and of the tourism that Oxford brings. Every store owner understands their target market, and I think JANE represents all types- from the boomer consumer to the gen z consumer. Through Jane’s creative eye and ability to curate the store around so many age groups, she is able to make each and every one of her consumers feel welcomed and accepted in her store regardless of if they are just coming in to browse or if they are coming in to purchase a whole look for an event. This aspect is something I find so unique and special to have in a town because it shows that Oxford is not just a college town. Jane understands and knows that Oxford is so much more than that, and I am so excited to work beside her, and learn from her.”

We ask our Neighborhood businesses how the Oxford and Lafayette county real estate market affects them. Jane shared, “I believe a booming real estate market affects all of Oxford, and small business is no exception. The more people residing in, visiting or vacationing in Oxford, the better our economy will be!”

We are grateful to Jane and her ability to keep women of all ages in style and confident in their clothing. JANE is located at 103 Courthouse Square. They are open Monday – Thursday 10:00 am – 5:00 pm, Friday – Saturday 10:00 am – 5:30 pm.
