Neighborhood Business Highlight: Hinton & Hinton

Since 1991, this iconic Oxford Square clothing store has been dressing Oxford locals, college students going through recruitment, alumni celebrating in The Grove on game day, and even some celebrities!

Hinton & Hinton, started by father and son, Forrest and Steve Hinton, was opened in 1991. Mark Shoemake, current manager, came on in 2001 after working there while he was a student at Ole Miss. Mark shared, “I love this store and its location. There is steady customer traffic, constant energy and always someone new to meet.” They’ve even had a few celebrities to pop in (the Mannings, Tom Brokaw, Elvis Costello, Christina Hendricks, to name a few).

From Ole Miss apparel to customized dress shirts to fine, tailored sports coats to men’s shoes, Hinton & Hinton is known for its fine quality and its staff’s ability to curate any outfit for your needs. Mark shared, “This is my favorite part of this business, helping clients during the different stages of their life. Whether it’s dressing someone for their first job or dressing someone for their best friend’s wedding or dressing someone for their recruitment at Ole Miss or even dressing a love one to be buried, it’s an honor and a privilege to serve and dress our clients during the different stages of life.” Hinton & Hinton opened the HER side in November 2020. You’ll find a unique selection of clothing, shoes and accessories right next door!

We ask our Neighborhood businesses how the Oxford and Lafayette county real estate market affects them. Mark shared, “Yes, it most certainly does! My clients constantly ask questions about purchasing a second home or a condo for their son or daughter in school at Ole Miss. I would get asked this question so many times, that I decided to get my realtor’s license so I could help a few of them!”

Hinton & Hinton is located at 135 Courthouse Square. It’s open Monday-Saturday 9:30 am - 5:30 pm and has extended hours on Ole Miss gameday weekends. We are grateful to Hinton and Hinton for keeping us in style and always having the most helpful staff!
