Neighborhood Business Highlight: DeltaDog

Chip Brown, owner

Chip Brown, an Ole Miss Alum, moved his family to Oxford in 2019 and opened DeltaDog the same year. With a background in dog training in the Mississippi Delta during his college years, he opened his first luxury pet resort in Memphis in 2007. He wanted to bring the same luxury accommodations and fun activities to all the dogs of Oxford and Ole Miss, while also building trust and relationship with both customers and their dogs. Chip shared, “DeltaDog customers will enjoy peace of mind knowing their dogs are staying in first-class accommodations and receiving the highest level of individual care and attention, just like they do at home!”

Chip opened his first luxury pet resort, BrownDog Lodge, in Memphis in 2007. After selling BrownDog in 2017, he moved his family to Oxford and opened DeltaDog. DeltaDog offers the same business structure just different branding and marketing. Chip shared, “Oxford is a much smaller customer base than Memphis, but I trusted that our locally owned, boutique service would be a good option for the community. We’ve loved the small town community and the wonderful relationships we’ve made with customers and their dogs over the last 4 years.”

DeltaDog is located just off Hwy 7 across from Kroger. Chip shared, “Our location is conveniently located for many people in Oxford on University Ave. just off Hwy 7 for customers coming from other areas of town. While the storefront may appear small, our space is quite large inside with indoor play space along with a large outdoor play area for the dogs to run and have fun. We are also fortunate to have the veterinary clinic, Animal Care Center, as a neighbor in the building. Since we are just a pet resort for dogs, it’s nice having a vet next door if one of our pet guests needs care from the vet.”

DeltaDog offers boarding at different rates and additional special services can be added to each visit. It also offers daycare rates and grooming/spa rates (massage, teeth brushing, flea treatments – to name a few). When we asked Chip to tell us his most popular service, he shared, “All three of our primary services (boarding, grooming and daycare) are equally popular among customers. While some customers may only visit for one service, most customers will utilize each of our services. The dogs get used to our environment and are comfortable returning to the same fun atmosphere and staff.”

We ask our Neighborhood businesses how the Oxford and Lafayette county real estate market affects them. Chip shared, “The growth of the Oxford real estate market definitely helps our small business grow. We are a boutique size business that appeals to a portion of the population, but not all since not every household has a dog. So the larger population generally results in more potential customers to support the business. As the population of residents and students grow, we hope they visit DeltaDog to be their trusted pet resort for their dogs.”

We know our Neighborhood Realty dogs (Dr. Fauci and Roxy) are grateful for DeltaDog and their variety of services. DeltaDog is located at 2008 University Avenue and is open Monday-Friday 7 AM – 6 PM, Saturday 9 AM – 4 PM and Sunday 4 PM – 6 PM. Follow them on Instagram/Facebook for give aways and special pricing.
