Amy Head Cosmetics has been serving the Oxford and Lafayette County community since August of 2012. Amy shared, “One of the things that makes Amy Head unique is that our mission is not only to provide a woman with cosmetic products that highlight her natural beauty, but we also focus on teaching women practical and realistic makeup application techniques and ensuring that she feels comfortable and confident in using Amy Head products after she leaves our studio. Amy Head Cosmetics stands for the power of self-love, when a woman or girl can look in the mirror and truly see her beauty.”

With the first Amy Head products and the first Amy Head Studio opening in Jackson, Mississippi in 1987, Owner, Amy Head, did not think this was going to be her life’s plan. “Doing this business was not at all a plan I had for my life. As a matter of fact, it began through lots of doors closing on what I thought I wanted to do. Thank God, literally, for those painful times. They directed me toward something I could have never orchestrated on my own.” Her husband, Harold, a commercial photographer, was instrumental in opening her eyes to this great venture. Together, they experienced the discovery of her talent and the impact it was having on women.

Amy and Harold expanded their business to Oxford in August of 2012, and the Oxford Studio has remained in the same location on the Oxford Square (301 S. Lamar Blvd) for almost thirteen years. Amy shared, “We love being a part of the Square community and our neighbors are so great! One of our favorite characteristics of the studio is that our storefront is lined with large windows that invite wonderful natural light into the studio space. The Oxford and University communities comprise the perfectly diverse demographic for whom the mission of Amy Head Cosmetics is to serve.”

The Amy Head Cosmetic team teach makeup techniques unique to the Amy Head look and curate a collection of products based upon each woman’s lifestyle. Amy shared, “Oxford offers Amy Head a clientele that spans a spectrum of age and needs— the tween who is just starting to wear makeup, the University student who needs event makeup for a date party, the working mother who needs help putting together a quick everyday look with just a few products that can take her from home to office, or the retiree who wants to keep it simple.”

Amy shared, “The Oxford real estate market has had a huge impact on the business—not only do local women shop with us, but so many of our customers have second homes in Oxford. People love to visit Oxford!”
