How to Remove Dog Smells from your Home

Whether you are looking to put your house on the market and want to get rid of the dog smell before showings begin or you just want to neutralize the dog odor in your current home, here are a few tips from realtor.com to help rid your home of that smell!

1. Regular bathing and grooming of your dog will help keep the odor to a minimum. If that doesn’t help, your pet could have a dental or skin infection that needs to be treated by a vet.

2. Vacuum dog beds once a week.

3. Wash dog beds every other week.

4. Vacuum floors twice a week (depending on the type of dog and shedding pattern, you may need to do more!)

5. Wash hard floors like tile and vinyl with a strong cleaning solution and very hot water.

6. Use a cover on any furniture that dogs are allowed on and wash the cover weekly.

7. Try these natural dog odor eliminators: Liberally sprinkle baking soda on carpets and/or furniture once a week and let it set overnight or spritz with vodka three times a week.

8. For stubborn dog odors, they suggest using something that will absorb the smell, not mask the smell. They suggest Fresh Wave Continuous Release Odor Eliminator from Amazon or ask our local store, Hollywood Feed, for some suggestions.
