Neighborhood Philanthropy: Grove Grocery
Oxford is host to some wonderful non-profit organizations that provide for our community in so many ways. We want to provide a glimpse of these organizations each month.
Grove Grocery is an Ole Miss campus food pantry dedicated to supporting the Ole Miss community by providing free food and hygiene products to students, faculty, and staff.
As a student-run organization, their mission is to combat the growing issue of food insecurity on the Ole Miss campus. Since 2013, Grove Grocery has strived to be more than just a pantry. Beyond their offerings like canned goods, frozen food, popular snacks, spices, hygiene products, and more, they provide meal swipes and offer Grab-N-Go Bags. These bags contain a recipe and all ingredients needed to make it, and they can be found outside the Food Pantry at all times.
Leah Horst, an Ole Miss senior said, “I first got involved in Grove Grocery my freshman year of college and am now the Director of External Affairs in my senior year. Being a part of Grove Grocery is a special way to give back to my community and fight for the needs of the people that make up Ole Miss. Campus hunger is a critical issue and this position allows me to play a role in assuring people that they won’t have to worry where their next meal will come from.”
Whether through donations, volunteering, or spreading the word, your involvement helps Grove Grocery provide essential food and resources to those in need within the Oxford community. Grove Grocery relies heavily on donations and community support—every contribution makes a difference. If you’re interested in partnering with them for food drives, fundraising events, or other initiatives, the best way to get involved is by reaching out to grovegrocery@go.olemiss.edu.
