Neighborhood Philanthropy: Stronger Together Oxford

Oxford is host to some wonderful non-profit organizations that provide for our community in so many ways. We want to provide a glimpse of these organizations each month. Stronger Together Oxford is the community volunteer hub of Oxford, Mississippi. It focuses on local organizations’ needs and helping to set up/recruit volunteers for those needs.

Established in 2022, Stronger Together Oxford is a hybrid program created with the foundation and love of what was RSVP, the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, and other volunteer hub pilots. After 45 years of service to the community from RSVP, it was evident that the community was growing, and the grant was no longer accommodating their partners and volunteers. The transition from RSVP to Stronger Together was necessary.

As their website states, “We spend the majority of our time with organizations, seeing their needs firsthand. We believe it's the only way to properly serve all of our community partners and to match volunteers with them successfully. At the end of the day, our goal is to recruit community members and transform them into valuable volunteers to meet the needs of the LOU community.”

Stronger Together Oxford has three staff members: Marlee Carpenter, Executive Director; Micah Uline, Administrative Assistant of Volunteer Services; Caleb Seehafer, Assistant of Operation Services. You can learn about volunteer opportunities here. Does your program need help recruiting volunteers? Become a Community Partner. And, of course, they are always looking for donations.

We are grateful to Stronger Together Oxford for providing the much needed service of helping to place volunteers across our community and sharing resources. The office is located at 1308 N Lamar Blvd, Suite 4. They are open Monday-Friday 7 am – 3 pm. Contact Stronger Together by calling 662-232-2773, visit their website or follow them on social media (Facebook/Instagram). As they say, “If you ain’t giving, you ain’t living.”
