Neighborhood Philanthropy: St. Peter’s Pumpkin Patch

Oxford is host to some wonderful non-profit organizations that provide for our community in so many ways. We want to provide a glimpse of these organizations each month. The St. Peter’s Episcopal Church Pumpkin Patch is an annual Oxford favorite! Known to many as “the pumpkin church,” St. Peter’s Episcopal has been selling pumpkins each fall for the past 32 years.

Started in 1992, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church has been showcasing and selling pumpkins on their lawn each fall. This fundraiser helps to fund the children and youth programs at the church. Kara Howland, Director of Parish Life at St. Peter’s recently shared, “Pumpkins are grown in New Mexico and arrive via semi truck for fundraising. It is a community wide event where people come to take pictures in the patch, buy fall decorations, and gather in fellowship with one another. People look forward to this event that has become a tradition for families to visit our patch. We invite you to visit, take photos, enjoy time in fellowship, and buy a pumpkin!”

The Pumpkin Patch opens Monday, October 6th. Pumpkins can be purchased Monday – Saturday, 10 am – 6 pm and Sunday, Noon – 6 pm. About 2500 pumpkins are ordered and the church will sell until all have sold! Prices depend on the size and are measured at check-out. They accept cash, checks or Venmo.

We are so thankful to St. Peter’s Pumpkin Patch for providing joy, fall décor, a backdrop for family photos and, of course, pumpkins each fall! The “pumpkin church” is located at 113 South 9th Street. Find out more about other outreach programs here.
