Neighborhood Business Highlight: Oxford Rx

Finding a pharmacy and pharmacist that you trust can be a daunting task, especially when you are new to town. This is why Josh and Mary John White opened their own Oxford pharmacy, Oxford Rx. They wanted to focus on bringing the “local” back to pharmacies.

Both Ole Miss graduates, Josh and Mary John moved back to Oxford recently and opened Oxford Rx in January 2020. Mary John is the lead pharmacist and believes clients should know their pharmacist and feel comfortable to discuss their prescriptions/other medications with their pharmacist. Josh serves as the business manager and maintenance man. There are 12 other staff members from pharmacy techs to part-time pharmacists to interns to gift shop/retail staff. They are open Monday-Friday 8:30 am – 6:00 pm and Saturdays 8:30 am – 2:00 pm.

Oxford Rx offers personalized services such as free local delivery, 24/7 refills online, immunizations, a gift shop with gifts for all ages, free gift wrapping, balloons and dippin dots, snacks and drinks. They also support local businesses by selling their products in the gift shop – Volta margarita mix, Cross Candles, paintings by Paula Mclarty, Square Soap, College Hill Candles, just to name a few.

We ask our Neighborhood businesses how the Oxford and Lafayette county real estate market affects them. Mary John says, “A growing real estate market brings in new customers to the pharmacy and the recent new developments in the North Lamar area have increased exposure to our business location.” We are grateful for Oxford Rx and their “neighborhood” family-friendly pharmacy. Be sure to go by and see them at 821 North Lamar Blvd.
